Cessaria, Zichron Yaakov and Bet-She’arim

Some 2000 years ago, the land of Israel was ruled by Herod the Great. Herod was one of Israel’s greatest builders, but also one of its craziest and cruelest rulers. The ancient town of Cessaria is an example of one of his magnificent projects .On our tour we'll explore the remains of the Roman Hippodrome, the Port, the Theater  - which today hosts concerts of top Israeli rock stars - and more, all lying against the backdrop of the blue Mediterranean Sea. Next we'll make our way to the picturesque town built atop Mount Carmel - Zichron Ya'akov. Built in 1882, Zichron was one of the first of seven Jewish settlements of modern Israel. We'll roam through its historic district and have lunch in one of its great restaurants. We'll end with a visit to the ancient Jewish town in the Galilee - Bet She'arim - where the main part of the Talmud was written (the Mishnah). In the mysterious caves there we will find one of the most beautiful Jewish cemeteries ever discovered.
